<h1><strong>Yes Your Blog is a Social Media Site !</strong></h1>
<p>The first place to start with your Social Media Footprint is a blog. You may not have viewed a blog as a social media. Your blog is a place where you can express yourself, principles, purpose, training and just about anything you want your audience to know about you or your business and it gives your guests a place to comment, ask questions and get to know you and your business better. Your blog can be used as an interactive website, a place to educate your guests, and a place to give them information, gifts or discounts of some sort for their name and email.  It could be a newsletter, report, e-book, educational video series, webinar, free membership to something or an incentive like a discount on products or services.</p>
<p>Can you see how your blog will fit perfectly into your social media? View your blog like your home or business office online where you can entertain, train, educate and serve the need of your guest, client or customer, develop a relationship and even do business. So, is your blog a social media? It better be because it is just like inviting a potential customer or client to your office.</p>
<p>You will want your blog web address to be keyword loaded with the words people would search with to find your business. This will make all the difference for ranking with the search engines. For example, say you are a plumber and the name of your business is Drain Master. When people are searching for a plumber online they are not searching the term or word “Drain Master”. They will be searching for “Plumber Altanta” or whatever local area they are in and plumber.  So “drainmaster.com” would not get found as well as “youratlantaplumber.com”. So always start by keyword loading your web address. We will go into more detail later on keyword research and how to use the google keyword tool. Just remember to put your location and what service you offer in the web address for your blog.</p>
<p>So now you have a web address (url) that is keyword loaded for your business and location. This is where most people really miss the mark and why they do not get results. The pages and posts on your blog must be optimized for the best results. This means there must be a good percentage of keywords on your pages or posts. Starting with the “headers”, there are three to be concerned with and that are H1, H2, H3. The number just refers to the size. All three must be on the page and the content must have enough keywords or you will not rank in a competitive market. Optimization is a skill that must be learned and we use software that’s helps us get the best results. We will be training you on the software and how to optimize your pages and post in another video.</p>
<p>A blog site is not static and must have new content added to it daily or weekly. Your blog is the place you will be diving traffic to from the internet searches, social medias, video, article, podcasts, bookmark sites, emails and other websites. Your blog site your personal social media that you control and  is where you will capture your potential client or customer information, communicate with them what you have to offer, and educate them about your business. Think of it like this, you meet people on the social media sites, remember they are not designed for selling, and you deepen the conversation and relationship on your blog website. This is where the sale may come from and sales happen when you are liked, trusted and have given enough information to satisfy your customers need.</p>

<h3><strong>Mind Set for Social Media Success</strong></h3>
<p>I want to start our first lesson with the Social Media Mind Set that is imperative for doing business online. And if you are not adopting this mind set and implementing online social media strategies for your business now, you may not be doing much business within the next 5 years. I will go into statistics later but I must say if you’re in business the majority of your clients and customers are already online with social media. It time you were there to.</p>
<p>Most people believe that social media is for kids or people talking about useless things. Truth is you can certainly find plenty of kids and posts about dogs, babies and all the fuzzies. Social media is a great way for families and friends to stay in touch and connected but I want to focus more on how to use social media for business, growing and building a following and client base.</p>
<p>Have you ever been to one of those chamber of commerce networking events or parties? Do you ever notice that people look around the room, introduce themselves to a few new people and towards the end of the evening they gravitate to their particular crowd or group, where they feel comfortable and share the same or similar interest? Think of social media networking in the same way. The only difference is the audience is much larger, there is no closing time or time limit, you can float in and out of circles easily and you never have to leave home to do it.</p>
<p>Now the average person on Facebook has around 140 friends and some have many more. They have so many they create fan pages for the overload. This means your audience can rapidly grow and many people will see your post on others pages. You will want to find groups that interest you and as you share with the groups you will naturally meet others, make new friends and grow your following. Say you are a dentist and love boating and fishing and you live in Florida. Well this is the type of social media groups you can search for. As you share and become known in the group, others will visit your page and your friend list and likes will grow. When you share about yourself what you do and what you love it is very likely that another boating enthusiast may see you are a dentist or one of their friends. Next thing you know is you have another patient, all just because they liked your posts, comments, videos, blogs, somewhat know you or know someone who does and they need a dentist. There you are.</p>
<h3><strong><strong>That is the Mindset for Social Media Success</strong></strong></h3>
<p>There are many social media networks that will serve you greatly. Don’t try to get on all of them. The ones we recommend starting with are YouTube, Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter. These are the largest and really the only ones I give a lot of attention to. I have joined others but prefer to focus on a few. You will find that is all you will need. Nice part is you can link them all together and cross share on each network. We will go into more detail on each of these later.</p>
<p>So I hope that you can see now the potential and power of social media. As you are keeping up with friends, family and business associates many other people are seeing you and who knows when they will need your service or product. You don’t have to sell on the social media networks as a matter of fact that will not work. It is for networking and making yourself and what you do available for those who are looking. Like I said, think of social media as a huge networking event that never ends and has unlimited new people coming through the door.</p>
<p>Now remember don’t try and sell on the social media networks. Trust me you don’t want to be that guy or gal at the networking event that shoves their card in everyone face trying to push their product or service. That’s the last person I want to buy from or do business with. Be friendly, keep conversation interesting and light and business will come to you automatically. Like any relationship, show genuine interest in others and if you are not interested in someone just move on because a new person just walked through the door.</p>

Now that we have done the keyword research, created your Google friendly website, lead capture, free giveaway report or offer and put your follow-up system in place.  Now that we have listed you in with directories and search engines raising your influence score. Now that we designed, set-up and branded your online presence with YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and WordPress. And now that we have automated everything to work together, it’s time to Launch.</p>
<p>Here is what’s next;</p>
<p>We create for 20 traffic magnet videos, 20 optimized Blogs, 20 Articles.</p>
<p>They are created from the 10 most asked questions about your business and the 10 questions they should be asking. We convert the questions and answers into video, blogs and articles.</p>

<h1><strong> Blueprint &#8211; Social Media and Online Marketing Strategy and Planning</strong></h1>
<p>When working with our clients we first develop a blueprint that will leverage the online, social media and mobile platforms.</p>
<p>First we much find out where you are, where you need to be and how strong your online and social media influence is. We run a diagnostic of your companies online and social media presence and it produces an influence score that show us where you are at now, where you need to be and from this we develop a plan to get you there. This plan will include your presence in the organic search engine results and major search engines, basic listings in many local search and online yellow page sites and listings in many local directory sites. The report gives us additional information and a snap shot of any reviews.</p>
<p>Second step is the keyword research. We research for the perfect keywords for your business. This not only finds the keywords that will relate to your business but the keywords in relation to the searches that people use that want to buy your service or product. The purpose is to drive qualified leads, customers and clients to your business.</p>
<p>After this we will secure a keyword loaded web address and Gmail account for your business that we will use to create your website.</p>
<p>You may already have a website and that is fine. The website we create for your business will be a Google friendly site that is optimized and keyword loaded. It will have a welcome video with call to action and a thank you video. The website is directly connected to a WordPress blog. It will have a contact form for lead capture that offer a free report, coupon, or some offer in exchange for their email address. Your site will provide a lead follow-up system and local number for text. It will follow-up with email, text, voice or direct to voice messaging. You can employ all or one, whatever suits your business.</p>

<p>•    5% of Twitter users account for 75% of all activity New York has the most Twitters users, followed by Los Angeles, Toronto, San Francisco and Boston; while Detroit was the fast-growing city over the first five months of 2009</p>
<p>.    More than 50% of all social media updates are published using tools, mobile and Web-based, other than Twitter.com. TweetDeck is the most popular non-Twitter.com tool with 19.7% market share.</p>
<p>•    There are more women on Twitter (53%) than men (47%)</p>
<p>•    Of the people who identify themselves as social media marketers, 15% follow more than 2,000 people. This compares with 0.29% of overall Twitter users who follow more than 2,000 people.</p>

<p>Savvy  Networkers (9 million+) have the most connections (61 on average) and are more likely  than other segments to use LinkedIn for a wide variety of purposes  other than job searching.</p>
<p>They have the second highest  average personal income ($93,500) and may often have the word  “Consultant” in their job description.<br />
Communication: Senior Executives” (est. 8.4 million) are somewhat less tech savvy  and are using LinkedIn to connect to their existing corporate networks.</p>
<p>They have power jobs which they are quite content with, and are likely  to have been invited by a colleague and then realized how many key  contacts were on the site and started building connections. Senior Executives have the highest average personal income  ($104,000) and have titles such as Owner, Partner, Executive, or  Associate.</p>
<p>6.6 million users are likely to have received  numerous requests from friends and co-workers before deciding to join.  They are somewhat less tech savvy and are careful in how they use  LinkedIn, tending to connect only to close friends and colleagues and  have the fewest number of connections). These people have the lowest average personal income ($88,000) and have titles such  as Teacher, Medical Professional, Lawyer, or the word “Account” or  “Assistant” in their job description.</p>
<p>6.1 million users may be working, but are open  and looking for other job options often on CareerBuilder.com, perhaps in  part because they have the lowest average personal income ($87,500).  They are fairly tech savvy and use SNS for both corporate and personal  interests.</p>
<p>* Most users connect to people they know, including those they’ve met only over the phone<br />
* Users like the professional and business oriented look and feel of LinkedIn compared to other SNS<br />
* Users tend to be more senior (56% are “individual contributors”, 16%  are management level, and 28% are director/VP level or above)<br />
* The majority (66%) are decision makers or have influence in the  purchase decisions at their companies (decision makers also tend to be  more active on LinkedIn)<br />
* And perhaps most interestingly, the greater the number of connections  the greater the likelihood of higher personal income &#8211; those with  personal incomes between $200K-$350K were seven times more likely than  others to have over 150 connections!</p>
<p>According to Nielsen, LinkedIn grew a whopping 319 percent since last  year (2007).</p>
<p>This could be a direct result of the growth of social media networking  sites into demographics that traditionally stay away from social  networking.</p>

<p>One big issue that’s come up is the fact that customers and competitors can do a lot of damage to a business very quickly by using social media to spread negative rumors and reports about the business. Businesses are struggling to figure out how to monitor and respond to such issues in an effective manner.</p>
<p>There is a lot to think about and deal with as a social media   manager.  There are Facebook postings, business profiles, article   directories, blog postings, basically a whole world of things that you   have to keep in mind and stay on top of.</p>
<p>It is important to make sure you think  about   the negative comments and postings that  may come from outside sources.   Learning how to effectively combat  these blemishes to your client’s  business can mean the difference  between an average social media  presence and a highly effective one.</p>
<p>With social media, integrity is everything. Bring value to the marketplace and great customer service and you will be successful. A few negative comments will even make you business feel more authentic…and you can then comment back and address the issue. This demonstrates very high integrity and responsibility and is the foundation principle to building a strong social media tribe. By addressing the negative comment, and attempting to resolve the   problem, you have accomplished two things.    First, you have demonstrated openness, fairness and professionalism when   dealing with the general public. Also, there is the potential that you could win back a lost customer  for your client. Being authentic and transparent in social media wins trust and builds relations.</p>
<p>Of course on the social media scene, there are some cases where the comment or posting might  simply be spam, advertising, or just nonsense.  Hyperlinks in the  comments of a blog leading back to another, non affiliated website is a  great example of this.  In these cases, the best approach is to simply  delete the postings, and block the person from posting if necessary. Some things just need to be deleted and this is actually how you can clean up  social media.</p>

<p>This is a very young area of an already-young aspect of marketing and yet it’s highly relevant and important today. Smartphones, geolocation services and mobile social networking sites are all increasingly available and popular. Businesses are wondering what the mobile social media marketing trends are going to be in the next year or so and how to jump on those trends before everyone else does.  99% to 100% of all people read their texts and listen to their Voice Mail vs. email. <p>It seems like the one question I inevitably get from people around the country is, “What’s next in Social Media and what about those Mobile Texting services?” .<br />
Instead of worrying about whether or not Linkedin or Foursquare is the next big thing, I think social media marketers, public relations professionals and communicators should focus on the technology. The networks and applications won’t change much. Sure, you need to watch them, understand them, and find ways to communicate and provide value to those communities because they will only continue to grow.</p>
<p>If I had to pick just one “next big thing” in the way social media is evolving, I would say that it’s already happening and it’s mobile marketing along with social media marketing. Smart phones happened fast. Everyone reads their texts and listens to their messages. There are new apps for just about everything and with iphone and smart phones your social media is right at your fingertip and the Platform growth is unlimited.</p>
<p>Web development was the next big thing in 1998. Community development was the next big thing in 2008. Mobile development is the next big thing now, and it’s already happening.</p>

<p>Willingness to change is the new bottom line for every business today.  Social media is the new word of mouth, but top management has to buy in before change can begin.</p>
<p>When management realizes the biggest benefit is the way customers  and associates have interacted directly with each other via our social  media pages. It’s great to see how willing people are to step in and  help each other out. <strong> Social media pages when done right will feel like a community of people.</strong> This is why your company  is out there using social media  to begin with. No matter what business you are in your customers are using social media. The more you integrate social media the more opportunities you have to get customers, referrals and build long lasting social media relationships with  them and build trust that generates more business. Social media is not part of your marketing plan you want to leave out, it just may be crucial to your companies success now and into the future<br />

<li><strong>Local companies</strong> are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the power of social media. You      have the ability to target geographic regions, use local directories,      target local area keywords and build you online friends, community and      following within the community you live. Local businesses do well in the      social media realm.</li>
<li><strong>Businesses with large inventories</strong> promote well with social media. If you hold meetings      with different topics, sell many kinds of different product or many kinds      of one type of product such as pawn shops variety store, online and ebay stores,      social media can be a great way to get the word out!</li>
<li><strong>Highly regulated industries.</strong> These types of businesses again must focus on      position, education and service but have a clearly targeted niche to      market to.  If you know your demographics      you can do very well. This takes finesse and should work within the bounds      of your state or federal licensing.</li>
<li><strong>Restaurants and bars</strong> are recreational businesses and have tons of creative options. These      businesses are social anyway and with social media you get to make irresistible      offers and create great buzz around your business.</li>

This says that marketers are present where their prospects, customers, and fans are despite their inability to perform effectively or prove its effectiveness in meeting business objectives.<br />

<h1>Below are Seven Tips That Will Make Your Social Media Marketing More Effective</h1>
<p>Integrating social media into your marketing mix is a must and definitely helps expand your scope, reach, increase sales, and build your tribe and following.  It is crucial to maximize your social media marketing&#8217;s efficiency as you continue to do business in the future. Here are seven tactics if you employ that will help achieve your goals:<br />
<strong>1.	Include a call to action.</strong> Once you have acquired your prospects name, email, friendship, subscription or follower then the big question. What do I want them to do next and how do I go about getting them to do it? Every marketer will want to say buy and they should. But consider with the new word of mouth social media marketing that building your relationship with your prospect is how trust is built and business is done. By building a relationship correctly communicating authentically and clearly with your prospect you can understand where they are in terms of their purchase process. In the past, direct marketers have focus on purchase-related calls to action.  Social media is a new animal and calls to action may include options such as likes, social sharing, comments, reviews, and RSS feeds. Keep clear tracking records and use effective automated follow-up systems, create price deals including a promotional code that&#8217;s associated with the original media source or a coupon. Even though today&#8217;s consumers are more likely to share offers with their online and offline friends, you can still determine which source initiated the sale.</p>
<p><strong>2.	Provide a way to get at least one response for participants.</strong> Engage with your prospect in a way that encourages them to take an action that leads toward greater engagement with your company or offer. Make these calls to action include of likes, follows, check-ins, give-a-ways, special offers and reports for contact information and RSS feeds. Always provide they can make contact and get customer service such as old-fashioned phone calls, e-mail, and chat. Make sure that you&#8217;re staff or you are available to respond to your interested prospects inquiries.<br />
<strong>3.	Continue to marketing with prospect after the initial interaction. </strong>The purchase process may take time, it&#8217;s important to stay in the mind of your prospects and engage with them with service in mind. This is especially true in the current environment we are all working in where the purchase process takes longer and is more social. You need to have on-going communications and interactions that convert prospects into customers and increase these conversions into sales. You should continue communication with customers beyond the first purchase. These are the ones most likely to buy from you again.<br />
<strong> 4.	Social media should be a big part of your overall marketing strategy.</strong> Social media isn’t a stand alone. To get the greatest leverage link your social media with other forms of marketing, PR, and communications efforts, both online and offline.<br />
<strong> 5.	Invest in your social media marketing.</strong> Contrary to what you may have heard, social media marketing isn&#8217;t free! While social media platforms may be free or inexpensive, social media marketing done right takes growth, headcount, follow-up and resources. There are tools you will need to be efficient and effective.<br />
<strong> 6.	Tell your story and be personable and memorable. </strong>When you integrate your story into your social media it helps your friends, followers, prospects and their friends to embellish it and share it.<br />
<strong>7.	Integrate technology and new devices.</strong> With use of mobile devices, you can engage with your prospects and take your social media communication on the go. This also insures they can take action wherever they are. You literally communicate on their turf regardless of how they found you or the amount of time they may have to interact.</p>

<p>According to a recent survey from Opus Research (http://www.empirix.com/news/press/2010/2010-11-17.asp),</p>
<p>55 percent of all respondents are already using social media to communicate with customers. Think about that and then think where you want your business positioned to profit from  the social  media boom in the year to come.</p>
<p>Are you one of those who is adapting to the needs of your customers, both internal and external?</p>
<p>If your company isn&#8217;t taking social media marketing into consideration with the requirements of this changing market, it is likely that your competitors are.</p>
<p>Those organizations that do not move with the times will quickly be left behind.</p>
<p>Looking over the numbers from this month’s new Nielsen report, social  media has clearly hit the global mainstream in the developed world,  providing reason to believe that designing engagement around social  media is becoming an increasingly normal path. Here are the three key  points:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>It’s growing fast:</strong> Two-thirds of the  developed-world’s Internet population visit a social media network or blogging  site and the sector now accounts for almost 10% of all internet time.  ‘Member communities’ (social media networking and blogging) has overtaken  personal Email to become the world’s fourth most popular online sector  after search, portals and software applications. Time spent on social  media network and blogging sites is growing at over three times the rate of  overall Internet-usage growth, and in most countries the percentage of  Internet time spent on social networks has doubled</li>
<li><strong>It’s going global: </strong>‘Member Communities’ has taken a  foothold in every major market from 50% of the online population in  Switzerland and Germany to 80% in Brazil. Facebook has become the  largest player on the global stage, dominant in many countries, yet  localized offerings have won the day in many others.</li>
<li><strong>It’s growing up: </strong>Reflecting the other data we’ve  seen here recently, Facebook’s greatest growth in global audience  numbers as come from ages 35-49 and also enjoyed strong growth from the  50-64 segment.</li>
</ul>
<p>Three points of advice that Nielsen offers to businesses and advertisers using social media apply  equally well to nonprofits and echo the thinking in Working Wikily:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Advertising must be a conversation:</strong> advertising should be about participating in a relevant conversation with consumers rather than simply pushing ads on them</li>
<li><strong>T</strong><strong>he tone of advertising must be more authentic, candid, and humble</strong>—because the goal in social media is for your message to spread by word of mouth</li>
<li><strong>Advertising should be about adding value: </strong>friendships  are about adding value to one another’s lives, and so should  advertising on social media, such as the special offers and sneak  previews on fan sites</li>
</ol>
